Albuterol: Warrick Pharmaceuticals

URGENT DRUG RECALL ALERT

Subject: Warrick Pharmaceuticals' Recall of Albuterol. Warrick Pharmaceuticals has issued a voluntary recall on a single lot of its generic albuterol metered-dose inhaler aerosol 17g. This recall affects LOT # 9-BBS-525 which was distributed between late April and early May 1999. The inhalers have an expiration date of August 2001. Fewer than 150 canisters are reported to be affected. According to a Reuters article issued September 10, 1999, Warrick said that it considers the matter serious and that it merits immediate attention. It cautioned that use of the product "may cause adverse health consequences requiring medical treatment." Re: ALLERGIES TO ALMOND AND/OR PISTACHIO NUTS

Kraft Canada is advising consumers allergic to almond and/or pistachio nuts that four flavours of Jell-O Instant Pudding products with the code numbers listed below, sold in stores across Canada, may potentially contain almond or pistachio nuts. The code number is imprinted on the side panel. The four flavours of Jell-O Instant Pudding affected are:

We are advising individuals who are allergic to almond and/or pistachio nuts not to eat Jell-O Instant Pudding products with the above-mentioned product code numbers.

This alert follows a product recall announced Thursday, November 25, 1999. Based on information available at the time, Kraft Canada moved quickly to recall Jell-O Lemon Instant Pudding (code number 92642) from a limited number of stores in Ontario. Based on further investigation, we are taking the extra precaution of expanding our recall to these four flavours, sold nationally. We continue to believe only a very small amount of product may contain almond and/or pistachio nuts.

We have also contacted the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and they agree with our course of action.

Nous avisons les personnes allergiques aux amandes ou aux pistaches de ne pas consommer les produits de pouding instantané Jell-O dont les numéros de code sont mentionnés ci-dessus.

Cet avertissement fait suite à un rappel de produit annoncé le jeudi 25 novembre 1999. Se fiant à l'information disponible du moment, Kraft Canada s'est empressée de rappeler le pouding instantané Jell-O au citron (code 92642) d'un petit nombre de magasins en Ontario. Mais après une enquête plus poussée, nous prenons la précaution d'étendre notre rappel à ces quatre saveurs, vendues dans tout le pays, même si nous croyons que seul un nombre restreint de produits contiennent des amandes ou des pistaches.

Également, nous avons communiqué avec l'agence canadienne de l'inspection des aliments, qui a approuvé notre démarche.
