What We Do: Transportation Committee

The Transportation Committee has been working to establish safe guidelines for anaphylactic travellers. We have also been encouraging airlines to consider alternatives to peanut snacks. You may be aware that several airlines have now removed peanuts and Air Canada was awarded a "Partners in Anaphylaxis Safety" award at the Anaphylaxis Foundation's 1999 Faces of Anaphylaxis Faces Forward Event. We plan to begin similar discussions with Via Rail. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us through the Network.

Our Educational Forum on May 30, 1999 entitled "Travelling Safely with Anaphylaxis", created a platform for public discussion between the airlines, caterers, medical community and travellers. It was very successful. A video recording was made and copies can be obtained through the Network.

Check out our Travel Tips before you go.

Also the Australian group F.A.C.T.S. have prepared an excellent summary of peanut friendly airlines.

For a more complete discussion on safe travel, see our Anaphylaxis Resource Manual.
